Tours FAQS

The Walks Through History tours focus on properties outside of central Arkansas. We choose locations throughout the state primarily focusing on historic districts and groupings of individually listed National Register properties that lie in close proximity to one another. We strive to choose tour locations that have not been previously featured in the Walks series.

The Sandwiching in History tours focus on properties in central Arkansas and are chosen from the area's individually listed properties and properties within historic districts. We strive to choose properties that have not been previously featured in the Sandwiching series. We must also have the property owner's permission before choosing a site as a tour location.

All tours offered by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program are free and open to the public.

Sandwiching in History tours generally begin at noon on the first Friday of the month and Walks Through History tours generally begin at 11 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month, March through December. If the first weekend of the month includes a holiday, the tours may be moved to the following weekend. A complete tour schedule is available here.
