Arkansas Historic Preservation Program - Thursday, September 07, 2017

LITTLE ROCK–The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will host a free barn preservation workshop at the Cane Hill College at 14219 College Road in Cane Hill on Saturday, October 7.

Rudy R. Christian will present a lecture on “The Value of Stewardship” at 9 a.m. that will include information on documenting barns, assessing their condition, and proactive maintenance. Following lunch, which will be provided, participants will visit three historic barns where Christian will assess their needs and maintenance priorities. Two barns are in walking distance and the third is a two-mile drive away. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and bring a chair or stool if needed.

The workshop is co-hosted by Historic Cane Hill and the Shiloh Museum of Ozarks History.

To register for the workshop, or for more information, contact Holly Hope at (501) 324-9880, write her at 1100 North St., Little Rock, AR 72201, or send an e-mail message to her at [email protected]. Anyone planning to eat lunch should contact Hope by October 2.
