As with all of the rock art sites located on Petit Jean Mountain, the greatest significance lies in the similarities of style, paint application, and designs and motifs between the rock art at these sites (hence, the "Petit Jean Painted Style" designation). This site is larger and contains more paintings than most of the other sites (the exception is 3CN20); nevertheless, the shelter did not appear to have been extensively used for habitation. This fact lends support to the idea that many of these rock art sites, especially those on Petit Jean Mountain, were purely ceremonial or religious in nature.
