Major Arkansas Rehabilitation Tax Credits

Act 855 was passed during the regular session of the 92ndArkansas General Assembly. The Act creates the Arkansas Major Historic Rehabilitation Income Tax Credit program administered by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHPP), an agency of Arkansas Heritage, a division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism.

In brief, the program should not be confused with the existing Historic Preservation Restoration Grants, Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credits, the existing Arkansas State Rehabilitation Tax Credit, or other AHPP administered programs.

The Arkansas Major Historic Rehabilitation Income Tax Credit program is funded by the State’s Arkansas Major Historic Rehabilitation Trust Fund. This unique program allows owners of historic Arkansas properties to apply for an income tax credit for projects with a minimum investment of one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) in qualified rehabilitation expenses; and is not receiving a tax credit under any other state law for the same eligible property.
