February 5th– Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park; Sandwiching in History Tours will continue to be virtual this year with a line up of unique sites from around our state. These tours premiere on Facebook the first Friday* of each month at noon and are archived on our YouTube channel.

In 1980, this important site was opened to the public as part of the Arkansas State Park system. The park contains one of Arkansas’s most significant pre-European archaeological sites, consisting of the state’s tallest and most complex mound sites. Archaeological investigations have linked this site to the Plum Bayou Culture, who used the site for ceremonial and religious purposes for several centuries. Today, the park interprets the important and interesting history of this site in partnership with the Arkansas Archeological Survey.
